X's Spring Training Roster & Exhibition Schedule Announced

SIOUX CITY, IA - The Sioux City Explorers have finalized their 2013 spring training roster and will begin day one of spring training camp this Saturday, May 4th, 2013 at Lewis & Clark Park with the league maximum, 28 players in camp (14 pitchers, 3 catchers, 6 infielders, and 5 outfielders). Of the 28 players in camp, there will be 9 returners from the 2012 squad and 19 new players set to compete for 23 spots, after the first 10 days of the regular season, the roster must be trimmed down to 22 players per American Association league rules.

After two days of practice at Lewis and Clark Park, the X's will travel to Yankton, SD on Monday, May 6th to play the Sioux Falls Canaries in the first of four scheduled exhibition contests with the first pitch set for 7:05 PM at Riverside Park in Yankton, SD. The X's will then hold two more days of spring training at Lewis & Clark Park before loading the bus Thursday morning (May 9th) in route to Lincoln, NE for exhibition game number two versus the Lincoln Saltdogs in a 6:05 PM contest at Haymarket Park. The very next day (May 10th), the X's will head to Huron, SD for a 7:05 PM game versus the Canaries of Sioux Falls before returning to Lewis and Clark Park on Saturday, May 11th for their final exhibition tune-up versus the Lincoln Saltdogs with the first pitch set for 2:05 PM.

After 4 more days of spring training at Lewis & Clark Park (May 12-15), the X's will open the 2013 season at home (May 16th) versus the Sioux Falls Canaries in a 7:05 pm contest with magnet schedule giveaway night thanks to Wells Fargo Bank along with a post game FIREWORKS show to cap off the evening. After the home opener, the X's will travel to Sioux Falls for the final 3 games of the opening 4 game series with the Canaries.
