X's Ink Pair of Catchers, Goodro Returns

SIOUX CITY, IA - The Sioux City Explorers are beginning to finalize their roster with the signing of a pair of catchers. Today, the X's have announced the signings of Tyler Goodro and Adrian Martinez. Goodro returns to Sioux City for his second season, while the 2012 season marks Martinez's first with the squad.
Playing in 66 games with the X's in 2011, Goodro split time as the team's designated hitter and catcher. At the plate, the Omaha, NE native hit .245 with 57 hits in 233 plate appearances. He scored 37 runs while driving in 29 and powered 15 doubles and 5 home runs. Prior to the 2011 season, the 25-year-old spent some time with the San Angelo Colts in the United League. The 2012 season will mark Goodro's third season of professional baseball.
Signed out of the California Winter League, Martinez will start his second season in professional baseball. In 2011, the Los Angeles, CA native spent time in the Pecos League. He hit .321 with 15 doubles and 7 home runs. In 193 at bats, the 23-year-old produced 46 runs. Martinez brings versatility to the X's, having experience behind the plate as well as in the infield.
The X's 2012 Home Opener will be Saturday, May 19th versus the Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants in a 7:05pm contest.
