
Xplosion's Pittsnogle named to CBA All-Star team

PITTSBURGH, January 24, 2007 - The Continental Basketball Association announced today that the Pittsburgh Xplosion's Kevin Pittsnogle has been named to represent the American Conference at the 2007 CBA All-Star Classic, which will be held February 6 in Butte, Montana.
The American Conference squad features two first-round draft picks from the 2006 CBA College Entry Draft, as well as the CBA's leading scorer and the league's free throw percentage leader. The squad will be coached by Albany Patroons head coach and former NBA All-Star Michael Ray Richardson.
The Xplosion's lone representative on the All-Star squad, Pittsnogle is the team's leading scorer and ranks second in the league with an average of 23.5 points per game. The West Virginia University All-American, who was taken in the first round of the 2006 CBA Draft by Pittsburgh, has set this year's CBA single-game marks for most points (44) and most free throws made (15).
The remainder of the American squad features four members of the Indiana Alley Cats, Erick Barkley (6'1", 170, St. John's), Shaun Fountain (5'11", 180, Wisconsin-Milwaukee), Carl Edwards (6'5", 215, College of Charleston) and Indiana's first-round draft pick J.J. Sullinger (6'5", 210, Ohio State). The Albany Patroons send three of their top performers to the All-Star Classic, including T.J. Thompson (5'10", 180,George Washington), who currently leads the CBA in scoring with 24.8 points pergame; Jamario Moon (6'8", 205, Meridian Community College of Kansas) and Eric Williams (6'10", 260, UMass). Minot's Desmond Ferguson (6'7", 215,Detroit) and Ray Cunningham (6'6", 220, Murray State) round out the squad.
The National Conference squad will be coached by Yakama Sun Kings head coach Paul Woolpert, who will be coaching his third All-Star team.
Galen Young (6'6", 220, UNC-Charlotte) leads five Sun Kings who were named on the team. He will be joined by teammates Chris Alexander (7'1", 260, Iowa State); Rocky Walls (6'8", 235, Oral Roberts), Robert Griffin (6'6", 213, Iowa) and Ralph Holmes (6'4", 190, Cal State-Fullerton). Also on the squad are Butte's Odell Bradley (6'4", 245, Indiana University / Purdue University at Indianapolis) and Nick VanderLaan (6'10", 225, Concordia-Irvine); Great Falls' Jamar Howard (6'4", 205, Wichita State) and Malik Moore and the Utah Eagles' John Millsap (6'6", 220, Texas-San Antonio).
The Xplosion host the Yakama Sun Kings tonight at Mellon Arena at 7:05 PM.
