
Xplosion signs Chris Acker, brother of Pistons' Alex Acker

PITTSBURGH, FEB. 2, 2006 -- The Pittsburgh Xplosion announced that the team has signed guard Chris Acker, who played earlier this season with the ABA's Detroit Wheels. Acker, 24, played college basketball for Chaminade University of Honolulu through the 2003-2004 season. He is the older brother of NBA rookie Alex Acker of the Detroit Pistons.
In his sparkling debut with the Pittsburgh Xplosion on Wednesday, Feb. 1, Chris Acker scored 27 points, dished out 8 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds in the team's 162-92 victory over the Ohio Aviators.
This is his first season in the ABA. He has played professionally in Portugal and last summer played in the Southern California Summer Pro League. A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Chris resides in Troy, Michigan.
