
Xplosion sign Bryant McAllister

PITTSBURGH, August 22, 2006 - The Pittsburgh Xplosion announced today the signing of former Duquesne University basketball standout Bryant McAllister to a contract for the 2006-07 season.
McAllister, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa. and graduate of West Mifflin High School, finished his career ranked eighth on Duquesne's all-time scoring list with 1,546 points. The two-time Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selection played in 115 of a possible 116 games in his four seasons on the Bluff. The 6-foot-3-inch guard became the sixth player in school history to lead the Atlantic 10 in scoring with a 19.7 ppg average as a senior.
Possessing a dynamic all-around game, McAllister came within .08 assists of becoming just the third player in league history to lead the Atlantic 10 in both scoring and assists in the same. He shot .771 from the free throw line for his career, including .816 percent (252-of-309) as a junior and senior and finished ranked in DU's all-time Top 10 in nine different statistical categories.
West Mifflin's all-time leading scorer with 1,514 points, McAllister was a four-year starter. He averaged 20.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.9 steals per game in leading the Titans to a 22-8 record and the Class AAA state championship game for the first time in school history in 2002. The Second Team Associated Press Pennsylvania Big School pick was named Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Boys Basketball Player of the Year. He was a two-time member of the Tribune-Review Terrific 10 and Post-Gazette Fabulous Five.
"Being a Pittsburgh kid, I felt that playing with the Xplosion would provide a great opportunity to begin my career," stated McAllister. "[General Manager] Freddie Lewis and Armon [Gilliam] have a lot of knowledge of the game. They have been there and with them behind me they can push me in the right direction to make it to the next level. "
