Pittsburgh Xplosion News Release
ALBANY, January 4, 2008 - A Carl Krauser steal with under a minute to play sealed the Xplosion's first road win of the season, as Pittsburgh defeated Albany,108-104, tonight. With Pittsburgh leading, 102-101, Krauser's steal of Lucious Jordan led to an Albert White basket to put Pittsburgh up by three. The Xplosion then hit 4-of-5 from the free throw line in the closing seconds.
Krauser scored 19 points while adding seven assists and five rebounds. Robert Morris graduate Chaz McCrommon led the Xplosion with 24 points. McCrommon, along with former Pitt Panther John DeGroat and former Duquesne Duke Simplice Njoya, added eight rebounds.
Albany's Nat Burton led all scorers with 27 points.
The Xplosion led by seven after the third quarter to take that quarter point, but the Patroons rallied in the fourth to make things interesting. The third quarter was the only full point Pittsburgh took, in addition to a tie to split the second. Pittsburgh took 4.5 total quarter points.
The Xplosion will finish their three-game series with the Patroons tomorrow night before returning to host Great Falls Monday and Tuesday at Mellon Arena. For more information, visit www.pittsburghxplosion.com.
