
Xplosion defeat Colonels

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Xplosion defeated the visiting Kentucky Colonels in overtime, 121-116. Former Robert Morris guard Maurice Carter led the Xplosion with 37 points and teammate Armon Gilliam nearly recorded a triple-double with 30 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists, as well as 3 blocked shots.
Coleco Buie added 22 points and 6 assists and former Point Park standout DeVaughn Halsel snared 11 rebounds for the Xplosion, who recorded their first home vistory and improved their record to 3-2. The score was tied at 110 at the end of regulation, but the Xplosion pulled away in overtime after Carter buried a a 35-foot bank shot for three points.
Martin Brothers led the Colonels (0-3) with 18 points and 8 rebounds, and D.A. Harvey and Clinton Simms each chipped in 17. Anthony Kyle dished out 12 assists.
