Lansing Lugnuts News Release
Eastlake, OH - Euribiel Ángeles continued a sizzling series with a single, double and triple, Henry Bolte homered, and the Lansing Lugnuts (6-7) defeated the Lake County Captains (5-7), 5-2, on Friday night at Classic Auto Group Park.
The Lugnuts have scored five runs, six runs, five runs and five runs in the first four games of the series, winning three of them and handing Lake County its sixth loss in the last seven games.
Shortstop Ángeles had entered the week with two hits in his first 26 at-bats, but improved to 9-for-16 with a walk against Lake County's staff after tripling in the second inning (and scoring the first Lugnuts run on a Cam Masterman RBI single), doubling in the fourth and lining an RBI single in the ninth to finish off the scoring. He also added a stolen base, his third of the series.
Center fielder Bolte did his part, too, blasting his third home run of the season to center field in the fourth inning to give Lansing a 2-1 lead, and then increasing the advantage to 3-1 with an RBI single in the fifth.
Meanwhile, Lake County's offense was stymied by Jacob Watters (five innings), Wander Guante (three innings) and Garrett Irvin (a perfect ninth to notch the save), managing only a C.J. Kayfus RBI single in the third and an Alex Mooney home run in the seventh.
One more victory would clinch the first series win for the Lugnuts in 2024. Left-hander Eduardo Rivera takes the ball for Saturday's fifth contest in the six-game set, opposed by Lake County right-hander Carter Spivey at 6:35 p.m.
The Nuts play the Captains through Sunday in Eastlake before returning home for a 12-game, 13-day homestand beginning Tuesday, April 23. Tickets are available for purchase at the Jackson® Field box office, available for purchase at (517) 485-4500 or online at milb.com/lansing.
