Mississippi Braves News Release

Jackson, TN - M-Braves right-hander Kyle Wright turned in the best performance of his young professional career on Saturday night, tossing seven shutout innings in the Braves' 2-0 win over the Jackson Generals at The Ballpark at Jackson.

Embarking on their first 10-game road trip of the season, Wright and relievers Corbin Clouse and Jacob Webb combined to blank the Generals in the first game of a five-game set in Jackson, TN. It was the second consecutive shutout against the Generals, dating back to the series finale in Pearl on April 30, a 5-0 win.

After three scoreless innings, the M-Braves cracked the scoreboard first in the fourth inning. Tyler Neslony reached on a one-out single. Two batters later and with two outs and on a 3-2 pitch, Alex Jackson lined a single down the left field line allowing Neslony to score all the way from first base to make it 1-0.

The Braves would add an insurance run and get into the Generals bullpen in the sixth inning. Neslony was hit by a Donatella pitch, and he immediately stole second. Jackson moved Neslony to third with a one-out single, and he came into score on a base hit from former General Daniel Lockhart.

Wright (W, 2-4) meanwhile cruised on the mound, earning his second win and also picked up his first professional hit with a fifth-inning single. He later walked during an at-bat in the seventh. The Atlanta Braves No. 2 prospect struck out five and walked just one, using a season-most 101 pitches in his eighth start of the season.

Clouse (H, 3) and Webb (S, 6) retired the final six batters of the game in the eighth and ninth to lock down the shutout win.

Jackson and Luis Valenzuela paced the offense with two hits each, while Neslony scored each of the runs.

The M-Braves and Generals will continue their five-game series on Sunday afternoon with a 2:05 pm CT matinee. RHP Bryse Wilson (1-0, 5.40) will make his second Double-A start for the Braves against LHP Alex Young (4-1, 4.38) for the Generals.
