July 2, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today they have re-signed goaltender Marc Magliarditi (Mag-lee-are-ditt-ee) for the 2004-05 season presented by TahitiPetey.
"Mags stole us at least six or seven games last year," said Wranglers General Manager/ Head Coach Glen Gulutzan. "He was a big part of our team and we wanted him back. He is a professional on and off the ice. Most importantly, he wants to bring a championship to Las Vegas."
The 27-year old Magliarditi led Las Vegas in net posting a 29-14-4 record, earning him runner-up honors for the ECHL Goaltender of the Year award. The eighth-year pro was among the league leaders in goals against average (2.35, 8th), saves (1,432, 3rd), wins (29, 5th), and save percentage (.927, 5th). The Niagara Falls, NY native was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in Round 6 (#146 Overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Magliarditi was awarded the ECHL Saver of the Month Award for October after going 5-0-0 with a 1.98 goals against average and a save percentage of .944. The Wranglers netminder was also awarded the ECHL Saver of the Week award for the week of January 12-18. Magliarditi recorded his 156th ECHL victory on February 7th in a 2-1 SOW at Alaska, placing him third on the ECHL's all-time wins list. Magliarditi posted his 20th career shutout in a 5-0 win on March 19th over the eventual Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads. He ranks first all-time on the ECHL career shutout list.
"With me having my family and stability here, it makes it easy to come back," said Magliarditi. "It's huge to come back for a second season and to get it done this early in the off-season. Now I can focus for next season. Last year, we were a first-year team and we had no expectations. We played well and we set a standard for success in Las Vegas. Now everyone will take us more seriously and there will be no more rolling over, teams will be gunning for us. We have unfinished business from last year. I feel more pressure for myself to raise the bar and I accept that."
Magliarditi joins Jeff Attard, Doug Wright, Jason and Mike McBain as signed Wranglers returning for the 2004-05 season presented by TahitiPetey.
