Game 6 Recap

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Bakersfield Condors 3-1 in Game Six of the Pacific Division Semi Finals in front of 3,118 fans Tuesday night at the Orleans Arena. Wranglers Dan Spang and J.D. Watt scored power-play goals as Las Vegas tied the best-of-seven series 3-3 with the win. Las Vegas goalie Glenn Fisher made 30 saves for his second win of the playoffs. Forward Dan Riedel also tallied for Las Vegas. Dave Bonk scored the lone Condors goal. Bakersfield goalie Yutaka Fukufuji stopped 33 of 36 shots in the loss.

Two Game 7s Tonight

For the first time in the 21-year history of the ECHL there will be two Game 7s played on the same day when Ontario hosts Stockton at 7 p.m. PT in the Pacific Division Semifinals and Las Vegas hosts Bakersfield at 7:30 p.m. PT in the Pacific Division Semifinals on Wednesday.

There have already been four Game 7s in 2009 which is the most in a single round and ties the record for most in a year set in 2006. The two games on Wednesday raise the total number of Game 7s to 17 with the home team winning 11 times (73.33 percent). There have been 11 Game 7s in the last four years after having only six in the previous 17 seasons. The 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs were the first time that more than one Game 7 was played in a single postseason.

Las Vegas is playing in its second Game 7 which ties it for the third most in ECHL history with Alaska, Dayton, Fresno and Trenton. Las Vegas is 1-0 in Game 7 having beat Idaho 6-2 at home in the division semifinals in 2006.

Bakersfield is playing its third Game 7 which is the second most in league history. The Condors are playing Game 7 on Apr. 22 for the second time having beat Long Beach 4-3 at Bakersfield on Apr. 22, 2006. The Condors in 2006 became the first team to play two Game 7s in a single postseason, beating Long Beach in the division semifinals before losing in the division finals to Fresno

Playoff Plots

Las Vegas is 5-4 in team history when facing elimination and a 1-0 in the only Game 7 appearance. Wranglers' goalie Glenn Fisher is 2-1 and ranks third in the postseason with a goals-against average of 1.68. Las Vegas left wing Kelly Czuy leads all scorers in the season series with nine points in six games. Around the ECHL - Playoff Update

The Stockton Thunder and Ontario Reign play Game 7 tonight in Ontario. The winner of this series will face the winner of the Las Vegas-Bakersfield series. The South Carolina Stingrays will now face the Florida Everblades in the second round. Their series starts Friday in Florida at 7:35 pm (EST).

Defending Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati defeated the Wheeling Nailers 2-1 in overtime in Game Seven on Monday night in Cincinnati. The Cyclones will face Elmira in the second round. The West Division Champion Alaska Aces will meet the Victoria Salmon Kings in the second round. Elmira defeated Trenton last night 5-3 in Game 7, winning the series 4-3 and moving on to play Cincinnati in the second round. Wranglers in the AHL

Tyler Mosienko and the Rockford Ice Hogs were swept after falling in Game 4 to Milwaukee. The Admirals beat the Ice Hogs 4-1 last night to win the series 4-0. Mosienko had a goal and an assist in four playoff games with the Hogs. Mosienko is expected to return to Las Vegas in time for Game 7.

Beaudoin remains with the Houston Aeros, who are tied with Peoria in their best of seven series after falling in Game Four last night at home, a 4-3 Rivermen victory. Beaudoin has four assists in four playoff games with the Aeros. Game Five is Wednesday night in Houston at 7:05 pm (CST).
