Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Jason Jozsa for the upcoming 2007-08 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal are undisclosed.
"It's such a great place to play and one of the best situations in the league," said Wranglers defenseman Jason Jozsa. "It's first class from top to bottom. We had a great team last year and I know we will be good again this coming season. When you play in Las Vegas, you know you have a chance at playing for one of the top five teams in the league every year. I'm excited to get back and start the season."
Jozsa becomes the first player from the 2006-07 Pacific Division champions to return. He enters his second season in Las Vegas, his fifth overall professionally. Last season, Jozsa led all Wranglers defensemen with a +21 rating and 145 shots on net, as well as tying for the team lead among blueliners with seven power-play goals. For the season, the 27-year old posted a career-high 11 goals and added nine assists in 66 games played. Jozsa led the team with a +10 rating in the month of March. The Calgary, AB native also scored a goal and added six assists for seven points in nine playoff games. Jozsa earned his first call up to the American Hockey League in December as the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights signed him to a player tryout contract. In seven games with the Knights, Jozsa recorded no points and two penalty minutes. For his career, Jozsa has 23 goals and 68 assists for 91 points in 277 games. Prior to turning pro, Jozsa played four seasons at Colorado College, posting two goals and 26 assists in 143 games.
"Jason is a very good defenseman who excelled here in Las Vegas last season," said Wranglers General Manager / Head Coach Glen Gulutzan. "He was a big part of our success last season and we are excited to bring him back into the mix for the upcoming season. We expect Jason to step up and be a big leader in our locker room, on and off the ice."
The Wranglers are expected to make more announcements regarding player signings over the next few weeks. Jozsa joins forward Brandon Kaleniecki as the first two players signed for the 2007-08 season.
