Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, Nev. - The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) announced today that they have agreed to a three-year extension with the Orleans Arena, keeping the ECHL team in Las Vegas through the team's 11th season in 2013-14.
"I am excited that we have been able to sign an extension with the Orleans Arena," Wranglers owner Gary Jacobs said. "This ensures that the Wranglers will stay and play in Las Vegas."
The Wranglers are entering their ninth season since bringing professional ice hockey back to Las Vegas in 2003. The team's run makes it one of the most successful terms by a professional sports team in Las Vegas.
"The Las Vegas Wranglers have been a tremendous draw at the Orleans Arena, and we're looking forward to hosting them for the next three seasons," Darren Davis, Executive Director of the Orleans Arena, said. "The Wranglers are an important part of our core business model - providing family entertainment and outstanding sporting events to the Las Vegas Valley."
A member team of the ECHL, the Wranglers play a 72-game regular-season schedule from October through March each year, with 36 home games played at the Orleans Arena.
The Wranglers open their 2011-12 campaign against the Alaska Aces on Friday, Oct. 14, and Saturday, Oct. 15. The home opener, billed as "The Last Professional Hockey Game on Earth," is on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7:05 p.m. against Ontario Reign. This season's promotional schedule sees the return of many headline-grabbing events for which the team has been known, including "Over 18 Night" on Tuesday, Dec. 6, and midnight games, with a puck drop at 11:59 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 27 and Sunday, Feb. 18, 2012. 2011-12 season seat packages, starting at $30, are on sale now at 702-471-PUCK.
