Woywitka Returns to Rivermen

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has assigned defenseman Jeff Woywitka to the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Woywitka, 24, has played in seven games with the Blues this season, registering one assist along with two penalty minutes. He has also skated in 50 games for the Rivermen this season, recording 29 points (10 goals, 19 assists) along with 33 penalty minutes. At the time of his recall from Peoria, Woywitka was ranked tied for eighth in scoring among AHL defensemen.

The Vermilion, Alberta native has skated in 67 career NHL games, recording 10 points (one goal, nine assists) along with 39 penalty minutes. Woywitka was originally selected in the first round, 27th overall, by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Peoria returns to action this Friday night as they travel to the Quad Cities for a 7:05 pm battle with the Flames. The Rivermen return home Sunday at 4 pm to take on the Manitoba Moose. Sunday is a Comcast Cable/Peoria Journal Star Family Fun on the Run Day with all upper bowl tickets at just $1 for kids 12-and-under, plus from 3-4 pm $1 hot dogs, Cokes, and bags of chips. There will be inflatables courtesy of Fun on the Run, face painting, balloon animals, and a post-game skate with the team!
