MacIntyre makes AHL history in Moose win

Published on February 20, 2008 under American Hockey League (AHL) News Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... Goaltender Drew MacIntyre of the Manitoba Moose became the ninth goaltender in the American Hockey League's 72-year history to be credited with scoring a goal, and it was the game-winner in the Moose's 2-1 overtime win over the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., on Wednesday night.

With a delayed penalty upcoming to Manitoba's Jason Jaffray and Chicago netminder Ondrej Pavelec on the bench for an extra attacker, an errant Wolves pass sailed the length of the ice and into the vacated net. MacIntyre was the last Moose player to touch the puck, and by rule is credited with the goal.

MacIntyre is the first AHL goalie to be credited with a goal since Seamus Kotyk in 2005, and joins current Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Antero Niittymaki as the only ones ever to be credited with an overtime goal.
