Connecticut Whale News Release
HARTFORD, February 20, 2008: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the team has signed defenseman Jared Nightingale to a Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.
In 50 games this season with the Wolf Pack's ECHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, Nightingale has scored one goal and added eight assists for nine points, while recording 137 penalty minutes. That penalty minute total leads the Checker team and ranks fourth among ECHL defensemen. Nightingale leads all ECHL blueliners in major penalties, with 13.
A second-year pro out of Michigan State University, the 6-3, 205-pound Nightingale split last season between the AHL's Iowa Stars (nine games, 2-0-2, 4 PIM) and the ECHL-champion Idaho Steelheads (11 GP, 0-1-1, 22 PIM). The Jackson, MI native also logged 10 games of AHL action with Springfield in 2005-06, after completing his college career. He scored one goal and added an assist for two points, and spent 18 minutes in the penalty box, during that stint.
The Wolf Pack returns to action tonight, visiting the Lowell Devils (7:05 PM faceoff), and will be back on home ice at the XL Center tomorrow night, battling the league-leading Providence Bruins in a 7:00 game. The Pack also are home this Saturday night, February 23rd, as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers come to town for a GEICO Connecticut Cup tilt (7:00).
