
Wordekemper Has Solid Outing On The Mound To Get 2-1 Victory

The Sioux City Explorers end the series with a victory, winning with a score of 2-1 at Lewis and Clark Park. Eric Wordekemper had a solid outing on the mound, only allowing one run in six innings pitched.
Explorers plated the first run of the game in the third inning. X's right fielder Michael Lang reached base on a hit-by-pitch, stole second and scored off a Rene Tosoni RBI double to give Sioux City the early 1-0 lead.
X's left fielder Tim Colwell did the damage in the fifth inning, crossing home to extend the Explorers lead by two runs. Colwell ripped a one out, 0-2 pitch for a triple and later scored off a groundout.
Gary SouthShore scored their first and only run in the sixth. Spencer Mahoney worked up a lead-off walk, moved to third on two base-hit singles and scored on a 6-3 groundout, cutting the lead to one run after six innings.
In the ninth inning, X's right-hander Jose Flores (s-20) closed it out to seal the win for Sioux City with a final of 2-1 Explorers. X's starter Eric Wordekemper (7-2) received the win going six innings with only one earned run allowed. Railcats starting pitcher AJ Quintero (1-3) was charged with the loss, giving up two runs in five innings pitched.
