(OTTAWA, ON) Sunday, August 31, 2008 - The Worcester Tornadoes exploded with five runs in the top of the ninth inning to win 5-0 in an exciting pitching duel against the Ottawa Rapidz on Sunday afternoon.

Mike Kusiewicz offered a brilliant performance for his last start of the season. The veteran lefty shut out the Tornadoes during 7.1 innings, allowing three hits, two walks and striking out six batters. Cardoza Tucker (0-4) suffered the loss, while Anthony Sullivan (3-1) earned the win for Worcester. Eddie Pena pitched in the ninth to collect his 10th save of the season.

Worcester got all their runs in the ninth, scoring five times on six hits and one defensive error. Mike MacMillan made the most damage with a two-run single that scored Brett Thaler and Alex Pena.

The Rapidz conclude their inaugural season on Monday, September 1 at 1:05pm. Fraser Robinson (4-7, 4.97 ERA) for the Rapidz will square off against the Tornadoes' Justin Edwards (1-0, 4.15 ERA).
