Worcester Tornadoes News Release

BROCKTON, MA--- Yohanny Valera led the offense in his return to the Worcester lineup going 2-4 with a one run single and a two run homer to double up the Rox 6-3.

Ryan Lobban improves to 9-3 with a seven inning, three hit, and three-strikeout effort. His ninth win puts him two ahead of AJ Wideman and Nick Asselin for tops in the CanAm in that category.

In addition to the RBI's from Valera, Worcester got contributions from Carlos Sosa, Nick Salotti and Lucas Taylor. Sosa sent a Matt Zachary fastball over the left field fence into the bullpen in the top of the seventh for his eleventh homer and fifty-third run driven in of the season; both lead the team. Salotti and Taylor brought home the other runs with a single and sacrifice fly respectively.

Rox pitcher Frasor Robinson (6-3) was strapped with the loss after getting knocked out with two outs in the sixth. Brockton mounted a three score comeback against Chris Anderson in the eighth to cut the lead in half, but fell short in the end. After Sullivan earned the save last night, it was Santiago Ramirez who notched the save (11).

Worcester begins a seven game home stand tomorrow, with a battle for first place against the Quebec Capitales at 7:05. The Tornadoes are 12-8 in the second half and two games behind Quebec in the chase for the second half automatic playoff spot. Pitchers are TBD.
