Woollard Named Oakley CHL Player Of The Week

The Central Hockey League announced Monday that Corpus Christi IceRays forward Chad Woollard had been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Player of the Week for the period ending February 21, 2010. Woollard had four goals and six points in two huge IceRays win to help them increase their lead for the fifth spot in the Southern Conference to four points over Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. The IceRays return to the American Bank Center on Thursday at 7:05pm to host the Bees in their only home game of a three-game week. Woollard's week consisted of helping Corpus Christi take two important victories contributing four goals and two assists. As the league's leading goal scorer, Woollard didn't disappoint scoring a hat trick - his third in a month - in a 9-4 win versus Laredo on Friday and then followed that up with a goal and an assist in the Rays 5-0 win versus the Northern Conference leading Rapid City Rush on Saturday. The Durham, Ontario native tops the league's goal scoring list with 35 and is second with 14 power play goals. Woollard has goals in seven of the last eight games, totaling 11 in that span. Furthermore, he has 10 pts (5g, 5a) in his last 4 games, and 17 pts (11g, 6a) in his last 8 games.

In recognition of his achievement, Woollard will receive a special gift from Oakley.
