
Woodchucks Sweep Homestand in Win over Bullfrogs

Wausau, WIS - The Woodchucks came into tonight's game at Athletic Park against the Green Bay Bullfrogs looking for the sweep on the four game home stand and also looking to win their eighth game in the last ten. It was back and fourth all game long but the Chucks got a huge home run in the bottom of the 7thfrom centerfielder Zach DeLoach to break the 3-3 tie and the Chucks held on for the 5-3 win.
The Chucks struck first in the bottom of the 1stinning with another home run from the hot hitting right fielder Jaren Shelby to give the Chucks a 1-0 lead after one
After the Bullfrogs tied things up in the top of 3rd, they then added two runs in the top of the 5thwith back to back home runs to take a 3-1 lead after five.
Chucks starter Jake Gross kept the team in the game tonight going five innings allowing three runs and striking out four.
The Chucks offense came alive in the bottom of the 6thinning with a huge two run shot to left to tie the game at 3-3.
In the bottom of the 7thinning, The Chucks got their third home run of the game with a huge two run shot to give the team a 5-3 lead after seven.
Chucks reliever Alex Stodola was incredible out of the bullpen going three innings scoreless allowing just one hit and striking out four.
Chucks closer Lenny Gwizdala was light out again shutting the door down in the top of the 9thto secure his eighth save of the season. He is now a perfect 8/8 on save opportunities this season and has an incredible 0.69 ERA.
Top Performers
Woodchucks right fielder Jaren Shelby contributed a solo shot in the bottom of the 1stto get the Chucks scoring going. Jaren also made an incredible diving catch in the top of the 9th. Shelby is on some surge at the plate and has now hit four home runs in the last five days.
Chucks third basemen Javier Valdes unloaded a huge two run homer in the bottom of the 6thto tie the game at three. That was Javi's team leading sixth home run of the season.
