Wausau Woodchucks News Release

Wausau, WI - The Wisconsin Woodchucks used six extra base hits, including Brendon Hayden's record breaking double to defeat the Lakeshore Chinooks 7-3.

With the Woodchucks adhering to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning, Brendon Hayden hit a double down the left field line scoring Derek Peake on the play. With that double, Hayden now stands alone atop the Woodchucks' career hits and doubles record with his 35th double and 149th career hit with his two seasons with the Woodchucks.

Nate Mondou then drove in Hayden later in the inning with a two-run home run to right field giving the Woodchucks a 4-0 lead.

Paul DeJong hit his 16th home run of the season in the fifth inning to add another run onto the Woodchucks lead.

The six run lead was plenty enough for Woodchucks' starting pitcher Andy Ravel. Ravel pitched six innings surrendering just one run while striking out seven Chinooks' batters.

The Woodchucks and Chinooks will play tomorrow at Athletic Park to finish their two-game series. First pitch is set for 7:05 with fireworks to follow the game.
