Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Madison, WI - After yesterday's two big wins over the South Division leading Lakeshore Chinooks, the Kingfish started a crucial four game road trip that began today in Madison, where they faced the Mallards. The Kingfish were up to the challenge, topping the Mallards 4-3, continuing their momentum and drive for the second half playoff bid.
The action began in the second with the Kingfish striking first. Buddy Reed and Alex Dunlap hit back-to-back doubles to give the Kingfish the early 1-0 lead. Zach Jones then grounded out to move Dunlap to third, catcher C.J. Saylor singled, adding the second run of the inning.
The Mallards gained the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a two run homer run, but the Kingfish had different plans. It was first baseman Alex Dunlap who tilted the scales for the Kingfish. In the top of the sixth, Buddy Reed tripled with two outs to bring up Dunlap, who crushed a two run home run for the 4-3 lead.
Kingfish reliever E.J Trapino picked up his first win of the year and Coley Thompkins shut down Madison for the final two frames of the game and earned his third save of the year. The Kingfish used four relievers total, after starter J. D. Nielsen came out of the game after 4.1 innings pitched, giving up only two runs and five strikeouts.
The Kingfish currently sit second in the South Division, trailing only first half winner Lakeshore. The Kingfish are two games up on the Wisconsin Woodchucks for the final playoff spot. The Kingfish play the Woodchucks starting on Saturday for a pivotal, two game series.

It will start at 5:30 p.m., gates will open at 4:30 p.m. The second game will start no earlier than 7:05 p.m. and will be a complete nine inning contest.
