Wood Returns To Salt Lake On Rehab Assignment

SALT LAKE CITY (May 31, 2010) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that infielder Brandon Wood will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake tonight.

Wood, 25, was placed on the Disabled List on May 24 with a right hip flexor strain. Wood began the 2010 season on the Angels opening day roster for the first time in his career and has struggled with a .156 batting average in 39 games for the Halos this season. In 99 games with the Bees in 2009, he hit .293 with 28 doubles, 22 home runs and 72 RBI. The 2009 Pacific Coast League All-Star also appeared in 18 games for the Angels last season. A native of Austin, Texas, Wood was originally selected by the Angels in the first round of the 2003 draft.
