MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis blew out Albuquerque 11-0 Monday afternoon at AutoZone Park to earn a series split.
The Redbirds wasted no time scoring eight runs in the first two innings to take control of the game. Back-to-back doubles in the first inning from Daniel Descalso and Joe Mather led to one run and Amaury Cazana's two-run homer capped a three-run rally. Memphis added five more runs in the second on Tyler Greene's two-run double and Descalo's three-run home run. Donovan Solano chipped in a two-run single in the sixth and Descalso added his second home run of the day in the eighth with a solo shot to set the final score. Descalso led the way for the âBirds driving in four runs, scoring four runs and going 3-for-4 with 10 total bases on the day.
Evan MacLane earned the win for Memphis with seven scoreless innings. The lefty scattered six hits and fanned two for his fourth win of the year. John Koronka was pinned with the loss after allowing eight runs on seven hits in just 1.1 innings.
The Redbirds return to the road tomorrow night at Oklahoma City. Lance Lynn will get the start for the âBirds and face Redhawks right-hander Doug Mathis. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Memphis returns home on Friday, June 10 to host Iowa for a four-game series.
