Wolves to assist Hurricane Katrina victims

September 13, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves will raise money for the American Red Cross during the first half of the 2005-06 season to support the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.

"As an organization we want to show support for the people of the Gulf Coast who were devastated by the storm," said Executive Vice President of Business Operations Adam Fox. "We are committed to aiding this massive relief effort through the American Red Cross, with whom we've had a long-standing relationship."

During its three home preseason games, the team will raffle game-worn jerseys and autographed sticks to collect money for the effort and other local charities.

The Wolves will auction one specific item to generate funds during each regular-season home game through January 15. These include a lunch with players, game-used autographed equipment, the opportunity to be a stick kid for a game, and birthday parties with Skates, the team's mascot.

The Wolves will also wear special Mardi Gras-themed jerseys - in honor of those affected in New Orleans - at home games on Wed., Jan. 18, Sat., Jan. 21, and Sun., Jan. 22. The jerseys will be auctioned and raffled with proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
