Peoria Rivermen News Release

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President & General Manager Larry Pleau today announced the club has signed unrestricted free agent right wing Scott Young.

Young, 37, will begin his second stint with the club after spending the previous two NHL seasons with the Dallas Stars. He spent four seasons with St. Louis from 1998-99 through 2001-02 while recording career highs in points (73), goals (40) and plus-minus (+15) in the 2000-01 campaign. During his tenure as a Blue Young tallied 205 points (107 goals, 98 assists) along with 101 penalty minutes.

"Scott Young is a returning veteran who knows the organization and what the coach expects," said Pleau. "He adds speed and will contribute valuable time on the power play. Scott's level of performance was always very consistent during his time here in St. Louis, when he enjoyed some of his best years."

The Clinton, Mass., native captured Stanley Cups as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1991 and Colorado Avalanche in 1996. Over the course of his 16-year NHL career Young has notched 708 points on 324 goals and 384 assists in 1,102 regular-season games.

Last season Young played in three games with the Memphis Riverkings of the Central Hockey League, registering three points (two goals, one assist). He has also made three appearances in the Olympic Winter Games while representing USA Hockey (1988, 1992 and 2002) and helped capture a silver medal at the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

The 6-1, 200-pound forward was originally drafted by the Hartford Whalers in the first round, 11th overall, in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft.
