The SeaWolves jumped ahead early and never looked back as they won the middle game of a three-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 8-2, on Saturday night in Manchester.

The ‘Wolves jumped ahead of Fisher Cats starter Zach Stewart in the top of the first inning. With two outs, Justin Henry walked and was doubled home by Ben Johnson for a 1-0 Erie lead.

Erie would go ahead 2-0 in the third when, again with two outs, the Howlers came through as Henry doubled home Andy Dirks. The double extended Henry's longest hit streak of the season to nine consecutive games.

In the fifth, Andy Bouchie led off with a single and an error with Dirks hitting allowed both runners to reach safely. Cale Iorg unsuccessfully sacrificed the runners over as the ‘Cats got the lead runner Bouchie at third. Henry then walked for the second time in the game to load the bases and Johnson would come through once again with a two-run single for a 4-0 Erie lead.

New Hampshire would cut into the Erie lead in the bottom of the sixth against ‘Wolves starter Andy Oliver. Danny Perales led off with a single and Darin Mastroianni walked to put two on base. Perales moved to third on a flyout by Calix Crabbe and scored on an error by Ron Bourquin at first on a throw over by Oliver. With two outs, Shawn Bowman singled home Mastroianni, cutting the Erie lead in half at 4-2.

In the seven, the ‘Wolves would get three key insurance runs. Iorg led off with a single and Johnson walked with one out. With two outs, Audy Ciriaco broke an 0-for-12 skid at the plate as he sent a three-run home run over the wall in right, his fifth, for a 7-2 lead.

The Fisher Cats would threaten in the bottom of the seventh. Oliver retired the first two of the inning before giving up a double to Brian Jeroloman and a walk to Perales. Oliver was then lifted for Luis Marte. Marte walked Mastroianni loading the bases for Crabbe. Marte induced a flyout to center from Crabbe ending the threat.

The ‘Wolves got an insurance run in the top of the ninth against reliever Vince Bongiovanni. Henry led off with a single and collected his second straight two-hit game. With one out Deik Scram was hit by a pitch moving Henry into scoring position. Ciriaco then came through with his fourth RBI of the night with a single to left, scoring Henry for an 8-2 lead.

Zach Simons worked a 1-2-3 ninth, preserving the win.

Oliver (6-4) earned his first win since May 28 as he went 6.2 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on eight hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
