Wolves Forward To Visit Two Local French Classes

Chicago Wolves right wing GUILLAUME DESBIENS will visit two local high school French classes in the coming weeks as part of the team's educational outreach program. The native French speaker, who hails from Alma, Quebec, will discuss the importance of foreign language study and the benefits of being bilingual.

His appearances are scheduled for:

Wed., Nov. 14 East Leyden High School 3400 Rose St. Franklin Park, Ill. 3 p.m.

Wed., Nov. 28 West Leyden High School 1000 N. Wolf Rd. Northlake, Ill. 3 p.m.

The 22-year-old forward will address the classes in French about growing up in Quebec, his hockey background and experiences learning English, and will answer questions from students.

DESBIENS, the Atlanta Thrashers third pick (116th overall) in the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft accrued nine points (3G, 6A) and 118 penalty minutes in 54 games with the Wolves during his first full season in the American Hockey League last year. Before joining Chicago, he tallied 33 goals and 60 points in 65 outings with the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL during the 2005-06 season. Prior to coming to America, he played four seasons with Rouyn-Noranda of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
