New Britain went back ahead by three runs in the last of the fifth when Dolenc slammed a two-out, solo home run over the wall in right. The solo blast, his third, made it 4-1.

The Rock Cats added a pair of insurance runs against reliever Rob Waite in the eighth. Benson tripled with one out. Chris Parmelee was then intentionally walked to set up a potential double play ball. Jeff Howell sent a bouncer down the line bringing home Benson on a groundout for a 5-1 lead. Steve Singleton then laced a liner into left and a Scram error allowed Parmelee to score from second making it a five-run game at 6-1.

Erie attempted to mount a comeback in the top of the ninth. Brandon Jones led off with a walk and was doubled home by Rawley Bishop to make it 6-2. Bishop would come home to score on a one out single by Scram, cutting the lead to three at 6-3. With two outs and Scram on second, Jeff Kunkel walked bringing the tying run to the plate. Pinch hitter Billy Nowlin flew out to right off of reliever Billy Bullock to end the game.

Below (3-11) took the loss despite going a season high 6.1 innings pitched. He allowed four runs on eight hits with no walks and three strikeouts. It was the first time June 3 that Below did not issue a walk. He is now 0-5 with three no-decisions in his last eight starts.
