Wolves Edge Bulldogs 4-3

Chicago, Illinois - The Chicago Wolves defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-3 at Allstate Arena on Thursday night. Hamilton's comeback was cut short as Darren Archibald had two goals and Darren Haydar scored a goal and added an assist.

The Wolves opened the scoring at 19:44 of the opening frame on a goal by Archibald. After picking up the puck behind the net from Chris Tanev, Archibald banked the puck in off of Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins.

Chicago took a 2-0 lead at 9:24 of the second stanza on a power-play marker by Archibald, his second goal of the game. The puck was sitting loose outside of the crease and Archibald backhanded it over the pad of Desjardins and into the back of the net.

The Wolves added another tally at 1:25 of the third period on a goal by Haydar. Bill Sweatt went flying in down the left side and wrapped around the net and put the puck on Desjardins. The rebound came out to Haydar at the right side of the net who lifted the puck over Desjardins.

The Bulldogs got on the board at 6:14 of the third frame on a goal by Joonas Nattinen. Nathan Beaulieu skated from the right point to the left circle and wired a shot which was tipped in front by Nattinen and past Chicago Wolves starting goaltender Matt Climie. With an assist on the play, Mike Commodore registered his first point as a 'Dog.

The Wolves restored their three-goal lead just 45 seconds later at 6:59 of the third stanza on a goal by Peter Andersson. Stationed at the left point, Andersson took a shot which was deflected three times in front and went in off the crossbar behind Desjardins.

Hamilton cut the lead to two at 13:31 of the third period on a power-play tally by Michael Bournival. Frederic St-Denis rifled a shot from the point which was tipped in front by Bournival over the left pad of Matt Climie. The Bulldogs made it 4-3 at 19:00 of the final frame on Beaulieu's first professional goal. Mike Blunden came streaking down the left wing put the puck on Climie and the rebound came out to a pinching Beaulieu who knocked it into the open net.

The Bulldogs' next game is against the IceHogs in Rockford on Saturday, December 15th at 8:05 p.m. All 'Dogs games during the month of December will be broadcast on Hamilton's Funny 820 (AM 820), with select games simulcast on Montreal's TSN Radio 690 (AM 690).
