Peoria Rivermen News Release
Adam Cracknell, Tyler Shattock, and Jaden Schwartz all scored third-period goals, while Jake Allen made 33 saves in Peoria's 3-0 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins Friday night at Van Andel Arena. The shutout was Allen's first since March 11 in Abbotsford and the eighth of his AHL career.
With the win, the Rivermen have a record of 10-11-2-2 and finished their five-game trip with a 4-1-0 record. Peoria hosts Milwaukee at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday.
The first two periods had no scoring but did feature eight power plays (four for each team).
After 50:59 of scoreless hockey, Cracknell registered the eventual game-winner. Derek Nesbitt fired a shot that deflected off of the leg of Cracknell and into the net. The goal was Cracknell's fourth of the season while Ian Cole earned the secondary assist on the play.
At the 13:27, Shattock scored to make it a 2-0 contest. Evgeny Grachev fired a slap shot that produced a rebound for Shattock, who put the puck into the net for his second goal of the year.
Schwartz scored his ninth goal of the year into an empty net to finish off the victory for Peoria. The goal for Schwartz was his fourth of the road trip and he now has points in six straight games.
Peoria outshot Grand Rapids 32-29 while both teams went 0-for-5 on the power play.
The Rivermen return home on Saturday for a game against the Milwaukee Admirals at 7:05 p.m. The team will be wearing fan-designed jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game to benefit the Children's Hospital of Illinois. For tickets or information call 309-676-1040 or visit www.rivermen.net.
