Wolves Come from Behind to Best Dashers

The Watertown Wolves started the Thanksgiving holiday with a win over the Elmira Enforcers in their first match up of the season. Head Coach Trevor Karasiewicz kept the streak going as led his team to victory against the Danville Dashers at the Watertown Municipal Arena. The win was retribution for the Wolves after dropping two games in Danville the previous weekend.

Brendan Contratto scored the lone goal of the first period unassisted just fifty-five seconds into the game. Despite Watertown having two power plays and Danville also having a power play, neither team could capitalize on the extra-man advantage.

Danville's Ryan Marker extended the Dasher's lead on assists from Justin Brausen and Daniel Martin. Gavin Yates took advantage of the power play from Ondrej Misovic's hooking penalty when he tickled the twine to finish a play from Justin Portillo and Brandon Wahlin. Yates goal capped the second period with a 1-2 score in favor of the Dashers.

The third period belonged to the Wolves. Mac Jansen's goal from George Holt and Aleh Shyptsyn came one minute and forty seconds into the period. The Dashers attempted to buck George Holt's goal with the refs claiming the net was off. The refs saw the puck cross the line before the net came off honoring Holt's goal and crediting Yates and Jansen with the assists. The Wolves held back the Dashers for the remaining sixteen minutes of the game to come out on top.

Holt's game-winning goal earned him the first star of the game. Jansen was credited the second star for his one goal and one assist. Yates, who also had one goal and one assist, received the third star of the game.

The Wolves will conclude their weekend series with the Dashers tomorrow, November 24th at 7:30pm in the Watertown Municipal Arena.
