Wolves and Thrashers Swap Goaltenders

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned goaltender DAN TURPLE to the Chicago Wolves. In addition, Atlanta has recalled goaltender ONDREJ PAVELEC from Chicago.

TURPLE did not appear in any games with Atlanta after earning his first National Hockey League recall on March 27. The 24-year-old netminder has posted a 5-8-0 record with a 2.94 goals-against average and .897 save percentage in 13 contests with the Wolves this season, which includes allowing two or fewer goals in six of those outings during his rookie season in the American Hockey League. He also appeared in 10 ECHL games with the Gwinnett Gladiators and the Utah Grizzlies, notching a 2-4-3 record, 3.79 goals-against average and .884 save percentage.

PAVELEC, who turned aside 40 of 42 shots in the Wolves 2-1 loss to the Quad City Flames last night, has backstopped 11 NHL outings with Atlanta this season, registering a 3-6-0 record with a 3.55 goals-against average and .884 save percentage. Overall, he has registered a 6-9-0 record, 3.38 goals-against average and .892 save percentage in 18 career NHL tilts with the Thrashers over the last two seasons.

The 21-year-old netminder has notched an 18-20-2 record with a 2.58 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in 40 appearances with the Wolves this season, which includes starting 19 of the last 20 games. He has held opponents to two or fewer goals in 23 of his 40 outings with the Wolves this season, which includes three shutouts.

TURPLE will join the Wolves when they take on the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center tonight at 5 p.m.
