Wolves Add Rivers To Blueline

The Chicago Wolves have signed 11-year National Hockey League veteran JAMIE RIVERS.

The Ottawa, Ontario, native has collected 17 goals, 49 assists, 66 points and 385 penalty minutes in 454 career NHL games with the St. Louis Blues, New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, Detroit Red Wings and Phoenix Coyotes.

Last season, the 33-year-old defenseman skated in 18 games for Moscow Spartak of the Russian Super League, accruing three assists and 42 penalty minutes.

A two-time American Hockey League All-Star (1996, 1997), RIVERS has also notched 131 assists, 163 points and 355 penalty minutes in 270 career AHL contests with the Worcester IceCats, San Antonio Rampage, Grand Rapids Griffins, Hershey Bears and Peoria Rivermen.

In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Wolves will begin their Calder Cup title defense when they launch the franchise's 15th season in Houston on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. The squad is slated to battle the Peoria Rivermen at the Allstate Arena in the 2008 home opener on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
