Connecticut Whale News Release
The Wolf Pack won both of their games last week, extending their winning streak to five games, improving to 12-1-1-0 since the start of 2007 and 27-17-3-0 on the season. This leaves the Pack only eight points behind division leader Manchester. The Pack tallied a 4-2 win on Friday against in-state rivals the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Left wing Brad Isbister netted two goals and Dwight Helminen and Dane Byers notched a goal each with Bryce Lampman contributing two assists. Goaltender Al Montoya also made 29 saves. The Pack extended their winning streak to five games on Saturday with a 4-3 win over the visiting Houston Aeros. 2007 All-Star Ryan Callahan netted his third hat trick of the season and tallied the game-winning goal at 1:50 of overtime, while goaltender Steve Valiquette denied 42 of 45 shots to win his third-consecutive start and improve his record to 6-1-0 in January. Defenseman Bryce Lampman provided the other tally and an assist in front of a crowd of 9,132.
All-Star Update:
The Wolf Pack's Ryan Callahan scored the game-winning goal at last evening's 2007 AHL All-Star Game with 3.3 seconds left to give PlanetUSA a 7-6 win over the Canadian team at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto. The lone Wolf Pack representative, Callahan was supposed to be joined by defenseman Daniel Girardi, who had been voted as one of the Canadian All-Star team's starters. However, Girardi was unable to play in the game because he had been recalled by the Rangers last week.
