Knights Finish Home Stand This Week

Abbotsford Heat News Release

The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights enjoyed all the comforts of home in January, playing eight of eleven games at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Their schedule in February will be a mirror opposite. The Knights will play just four of 14 games at home. The first two come this weekend when they host the San Antonio Rampage on Friday and Saturday. They are the final two games of a season-high eight-game home stand. The Knights had their seven-game winning streak snapped last Friday with a loss to Chicago. That came on the heels of a shootout win over Milwaukee. Still, the win streak was the second longest in team history behind only the eight-game string put together in October of this season. The Knights begin the week in second place in the West Division with a record of 28-14-3-0, good for 59 points. They are six points behind Chicago with four games in hand. They also have a five point lead over the third place Admirals who have played three more games. Tickets are on sale for all upcoming Knights' home games at the Omaha Civic Auditorium box office and all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets may be purchased by phone at (402) 422-1212. Kids 12 and under get in free with an adult admission. Restrictions apply.

OPPONENTS THIS WEEK:

Friday & Saturday, February 2 & 3 vs. San Antonio Rampage (Phoenix Coyotes), both games 7:00 p.m.

Fifth and sixth of ten meetings; second and third of five meetings in Omaha

The Knights meet the Rampage for the first time in more than a month. The two teams last met on December 27th when the Knights pulled off a come-from-behind 4-3 win. The Knights lead the season series 3-0-1-0 and are 9-3-1-1 all time. The Knights have won the only meeting in Omaha this season, prevailing 4-3 on October 21st. San Antonio is in seventh place in the West Division to begin the week. The Rampage are 18-26-1-2 this season and 4-14-1-1 on the road. San Antonio has lost its last two games. The Rampage is led by Yanick Lehoux who has 21 goals and 25 assists for 46 points in 45 games. The goal and assist totals are also team highs. Former UNO Maverick Bill Thomas is second in team scoring with 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points, but he was recently recalled by the Rampage's NHL affiliate, the Phoenix Coyotes. Josh Tordjman and David LeNeveu share the work in the San Antonio goal. The rookie Tordjman leads the team with eight wins, a 2.74 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. The Rampage do not play before visiting the Knights.
