Chicago Wolves News Release

Chicago Wolves left wing BRETT STERLING has been named MVP of the 2007 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Game. The 22-year-old rookie recorded two goals and one assist and posted a +3 plus/minus rating to lead the PlanetUSA All-Stars to a 7-6 victory over Team Canada at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto on Monday night.

This marks the first time a Wolves player has been named MVP of the All-Star game since the team joined the league in 2001.

STERLING, who earned back-to-back AHL Rookie of the Month honors in November and December, leads the AHL with 39 goals and shares third overall with 66 points in 47 contests with the Wolves this season. He has already shattered the Wolves record for goals by a rookie, and his nearly 40 tallies thus far are the most by a player through 49 games in franchise history.

The Los Angeles native also established a franchise record for the Wolves by notching a marker in nine consecutive games from Dec. 12 to Dec. 29, registering 13 during that span. He has potted two of Chicago's five hat tricks this year - entering this season, a Wolves rookie had only posted three goals in a game once in 12 seasons.

The Wolves return to action after the All-Star break when they travel to Canada to take on the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Center on Fri., Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
