Providence, RI, March 22, 2009: Defenseman Johnny Boychuk had two goals and an assist Sunday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence, as the Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack by a score of 5-3. The loss cut the Atlantic Division-leading Wolf Pack's lead over the second-place Bruins to one point.

Martin St. Pierre had three assists for Providence, which also got goals from Kirk MacDonald, Zach Hamill and Wacey Rabbit. Vladimir Sobotka had two assists. Defensemen Brian Fahey and Michael Sauer led Hartford, with a goal and an assist apiece. Brodie Dupont had two assists.

The Wolf Pack jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 7:08 of the game. Anisimov, the Wolf Pack's goal-scoring leader, scored his 30th of the season at 2:13, on a rebound of a shot by Sauer. Anisimov was positioned to the left of Bruin goaltender Tuukka Rask, and flipped the puck past his glove. Sauer then scored his sixth of the season, and third in the last seven games, on a power play at 7:08, one-timing a pass from Fahey through Rask's legs.

Boychuk, the leading scorer among AHL defensemen, got Providence on the board 2:17 later at 9:25. Boychuk's shot from the center point got by Wolf Pack goaltender Maxime Daigneault on the glove side, for Boychuk's 18th goal of the season.

Providence tied the score 2:43 into the second period, just as a Hartford power play was ending. Zach Hamill worked the puck away from the Wolf Pack's Bobby Sanguinetti at the left point and took it all the way down the wing before snapping a shot past Daigneault.

The Wolf Pack power play put Hartford back on top at the 11:40 mark, with Fahey scoring on a snap shot from the top of the circles. It was the second goal in the last three games for Fahey, after he scored only twice in his first 55 games.

Once again, though, the Bruins came back, this time with only 45 seconds remaining in the period. St. Pierre, Providence's point-scoring leader, passed the puck from behind the net to MacDonald, who knocked it in from the right-wing side of the crease.

Boychuk got what turned out to be the winning goal 2:56 into the third period on a five-on-three power play. St. Pierre found Boychuk in the right-wing circle for a one-timer that Daigneault could not stop. Rabbit created the final margin with an empty-net goal at 19:40.

The loss was only the third in regulation in the last 17 games for the Wolf Pack (13-3-1-0). Rask made 21 saves in the Providence net to get the win, and Daigneault, making his first Wolf Pack start, allowed four goals on 29 shots.
