ALBANY - Justin Peters made 32 saves to pick up his second consecutive shutout and lead the Albany River Rats to a 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms on Sunday evening at the Times Union Center. The Phantoms remain eight points back of the Binghamton Senators in the race for the final playoff spot in the East Division, but now hold just two games in hand.

The River Rats got on the board just past the halfway point of the first period and four seconds after wrapping up a power play. They were still on the attack in the Phantoms zone when Dominic D'Amour, a defenseman who spent time with the Phantoms earlier this season, fired a wrister that went through traffic and over the shoulder of Scott Munroe. D'Amour picked up his first goal in just his second game with the Rats and gave Albany the 1-0 lead after one period.

Albany doubled its lead 6:07 into the second period. A shot from Noah Babin from the point touched off a scramble in front of the Phantoms net, which Yanick Tifu ended with a goal from the left side. It gave the Rats a 2-0 advantage and closed out the scoring. The Phantoms outshot Albany 17-3 in the third period, but could not put anything past Peters.

Munroe took the loss with 23 saves, while Peters earned the win and first star honors with his 32 stops.

The Phantoms are in Binghamton on Wednesday before returning home for a three-game homestand next week, with a game against Toronto on Friday and a pair against Grand Rapids on Saturday and Sunday.

There are just six regular season games remaining at the Wachovia Spectrum. Adult tickets are just $10 and kids tickets just $5 for the remainder of the 2008-09 season. Tickets are going fast for the final game on Friday, April 10 against the Hershey Bears. Tickets are available through ComcastTIX at 1-800-298-4200, at the Wachovia Complex box office or online at Phantomshockey.com.
