Wizards Sweep at Home

Bismarck, N.D. (Dec. 18, 2010) - The Dakota Wizards (3-9) defeated the Texas Legends (6-5) 101-95 Saturday night at the Bismarck Civic Center and sweep the weekend series. Vernon Hamilton led the way for Dakota coming off the bench to score a game high 24 points

The Wizards led 22-18 at the end of the first quarter and would hold the lead throughout much of the second quarter. The Legends tied the game at 35 on a three point play by Justin Dentmon with 5:00 minutes to play in the quarter but the Wizards would go on a 5-0 run to end the quarter and lead 50-45 at the break.

The Legends cut into the lead early in the third quarter and took the lead with 7:15 left on two Justin Dentmon free throws. Dakota battled back and would regain late in third on two Mike Anderson free throws and would lead 74-72 at the end of three. Dakota would go on a 12-0 run to start the fourth and would lead 86-72 with 9:00 minutes left. Texas would battle back and cut the lead to 91-87 with 3:30 left in the game. Vernon Hamilton would hit back to back big three pointers down the stretch to help secure the 101-95 victory for the Wizards. Hamilton scored 10 of his game high 24 points in the final quarter.

Mike Anderson recorded his first double-double of the season for Dakota (3-9) scoring 20 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Memphis Grizzlies assignee DeMarre Carroll chipped in 19 points.

Sean Williams would lead the way for the Legends (6-5) scoring 23 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

The Wizards will return to action on Christmas Day as they travel to Sioux Falls to take on the Skyforce.
