Sporting Kansas City News Release

The Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer and Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball recently teamed up to create the KC Blue Sports Pack, giving sports fans the opportunity to see each team play and receive a Royals hat and Wizards shirt for just $30. The Royals won their game Tuesday as part of the package, with pitcher Zack Greinke setting a new franchise record with 15 strikeouts against the Cleveland Indians. The Wizards host Real Salt Lake Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT in their match as part of the package.

Members of the Kansas City Wizards supporters' section, The Cauldron, visited Kauffman Stadium for Greinke's outstanding performance. The Cauldron chanted and played the drums to provide an excellent home field advantage for the Royals as they do at each Wizards match.

As part of the partnership, Royals players Billy Butler, Bruce Chen and Jamey Wright visited the Wizards' Swope Park Training Center Monday. They received pointers from the Wizards on playing soccer and took penalty kicks against Wizards players. Wizards players Davy Arnaud, Matt Besler, Jimmy Conrad and Jack Jewsbury visited Kauffman Stadium later in the day to take part in batting practice. The soccer players shagged fly balls in the outfield then took swings against Royals Manager Trey Hillman and Hitting Coach Kevin Seitzer. Royals General Manager Dayton Moore observed the session.

The Wizards and Royals have extended the KC Blue Sports Pack due to high demand. Fans who have not yet purchased the package can order before Saturday's Wizards game and receive a View Level Infield Ticket to the Royals contest with the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday, September 8. Visit www.royals.com/wizards to purchase the package online or call the Wizards at (913) 387-3400.
