Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009) - Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornstein has been named to the United States National Team's 24-player roster that will train in advance of critical FIFA World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador and Trinidad & Tobago by U.S. head coach Bob Bradley. Bornstein, a three-time MLS All-Star, has made 20 appearances with the United States, and was part of the squad that earned a second-place finish at the Confederations Cup in South Africa this summer.

The U.S. team will begin gathering Aug. 30 in Utah for training, and will then host El Salvador on Sept. 5 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah, at 5:00 p.m. PT (6:00 p.m. MT), and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN Classic and TeleFutura. The team will travel Sept. 7 to Trinidad, and will return to Hasley Crawford Stadium to take on Trinidad & Tobago on Sept. 9. The match kicks off in Port-of-Spain at 4:00 p.m. PT (7:00 p.m. ET), with live coverage on ESPN Classic and Galavision.

The U.S. currently sits in third place in the final round hexagonal, collecting 10 points and a 3-2-1 record through six games. Costa Rica leads the pack with 12 points, while Honduras holds second place based on a superior goal differential to the United States. The top three teams automatically advance to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, while the fourth place team will participate in a two-leg playoff against the fifth place team from South America.

Below is the full roster for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
