Rockford Lightning News Release

Rockford, IL- The 2004-05 regular season ended with a bang, just not in the way that the Rockford Lightning would have hoped. Paced by the highest individual point total by anyone in the CBA this season, the Dakota Wizards defeated the Rockford Lightning in the season finale for both teams, 145-134.

Dakota had the lead for the majority of the ball game, and led 80-60 at the halftime break. Melvin Sanders led the way for Dakota, scoring 54 points, including 20 after the first quarter, and 37 at the half. Sanders also had 16 rebounds and 9 assists in the game for Dakota. Jermaine Walker led the scoring for the Lightning, as he went 14-of-30 from the field, and totaled 34 points. Cordell Henry set his season high 26 points for Rockford, and Jermaine Tate had a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Stais Boseman and Brian Lubeck also had double-doubles for the Lightning, as Lubeck had 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Boseman had 16 points and 11 assists in the contest. The win was big for Dakota, as they earned enough quarter points to capture the CBA's Western Conference title.

Rockford now moves on to the 2004-05 CBA Playoffs, where they will face the Great Lakes Storm. Games 1 and 2 will be at the Birch Run Expo Centre, Game 1 taking place on Tuesday, March 15, and Game 2 to be played on Thursday, March 17.
