
Williams and Sanders earn final Player of the Week honors

Boise, ID (March 14, 2005) â The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Great Lakes Storm guard Ezra Williams was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, while Dakota Wizards guard Melvin Sanders was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the week of March 6 â 13.
Williams earned Great Lakes' season-high ninth Player of the Week award this season after posting 23.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. He also added 6.3 assists and 2.3 steals per contest, while shooting 45.0 percent (28 of 62) from the floor, 80.0 percent (8 of 10) from the free-throw line, and 27.0 percent (6 of 22) from behind the three-point line. In a 124-121 (4-3) overtime victory over the Rockford Lightning on March 9, Williams posted 32 points, 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals. The following night he added 28 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in a 120-105 (6-1) loss to the Yakima Sun Kings.
Dakota Wizards guard Melvin Sanders earned his second Player of the Week award in the past three weeks by posting 29.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per contest as he led the Wizards to a 3-2 mark in the final week of the regular season, and the Western Conference Regular Season Title. He also added 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game, while shooting 57.4 percent (54 of 94) from the floor, 96.8 percent (30 of 31) from the free-throw line, and 47.8 percent (11 of 23) from behind the three-point line. In the regular season finale, he posted a league season-high 54 points, while adding 16 rebounds and nine assists in a 145-134 (5-2) victory over the Lightning.
On the season, the Oklahoma State alum ('03) led the Wizards with 18.7 points per game, while adding 5.8 rebounds per contest after playing in all 48 games (starting 41). He ranks 9th in the league in scoring and 6th in free-throw percentage (.855).
Other players receiving consideration were Gary's Jemeil Rich (19.0 ppg, 8.8 apg), Michigan's Sam Mack (31.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg), and Rockford's Marshall Phillips (29.5 ppg, 9.0 rpg).
