
Wizards come from behind to win thriller

BISMARCK, N.D.: For the Second straight night Wizards fans cheered on forward Carlos Powell as he tossed in two clutch lay ups in the final seconds of the fourth to give the Wizards a come from behind victory over rival Fort Wayne 110 - 109 tonight at the Bismarck Civic Center.
Fort Wayne started the night strong taking a 17 point lead after one period of play. Mad Ants starting guard Earl Calloway made sure to keep up his intensity hitting 7 of 13 attempts from behind the three-point line. Calloway led all scores with a season high 44 points.
"I felt good tonight", said Mad Ants guard Earl Calloway following the game. "My teammates saw that I was shooting well so they got me the ball".
Coming out of the locker room the Wizards exploded on a 22-4 run to start the third quarter tying it at 77 all on a Carlos Powell Hook Shot. The lead changed back and forth for the rest of the game before the final minute.
The Wizards down one and under a minute to play looked to get in the paint since Fort Wayne center Larry Turner fouled out earlier in the fourth. Powell danced down the base line for the Wizards and laid the ball in for two with ten seconds remaining. Fort Wayne last second shot would come up unsuccessful giving the Wizards their 25th victory of the season.
"What a game", said Wizards head coach Duane Ticknor. "Focus! Our guys had focus tonight. To play the way we did in the second half and pull out this win was great. Our guys focused and got it done and I am proud of everyone of them".
Dakota had three guys finish the contest with double doubles. Center Kevin Lyde grabbed his 11th double double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while forward carlos powell nailed 30 points to go with his 12 assists and Forward Will Frisby gave a needed spark off the bench to pull down 10 boards to go with his 20 points.
Fort Wayne, now 15-27 on the season had former Duke standout guard Dahntay Jones finish with 24 points in his second start in the D-League, while forward Nate Gerwig grabbed 18 rebounds in the loss.
Dakota, now 6-1 on the season versus the Mad Ants looks to close out the regular season at home with a win on Tuesday night when they face Fort Wayne one last time at the Bismarck Civic Center.
