March 22, 2008 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

NEW YORK - Sioux Falls Skyforce forward Kasib Powell today earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the Miami Heat. He is scheduled to join the team tonight when the Heat travels to play the Charlotte Bobcats.

Powell played in 38 games (37 starts) for the Skyforce, where he averaged 22.3 points, on 51-percent shooting, to go with 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 39.0 minutes of action. His 22.3 points per game ranks him third in the D-League in scoring average.

The 21st GATORADE Call-Up this season, Powell was selected as a D-League All-Star and traveled to New Orleans to participate in All-Star activities in February. In the game, Powell scored 14 points en route to his Red Team's victory over the Blue Team. Additionally, Powell participated in the inaugural D-League Dream Factory Friday Night, trying his hand at a game of H.O.R.S.E.

Prior to his time in the D-League, Powell spent two seasons at Texas Tech University, where he averaged 14.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists during his final season. He has participated in NBA camps and summer leagues with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers.

Powell becomes the eighth player on the Heat roster with D-League experience, including fellow GATORADE Call-Ups Stephane Lasme and Blake Ahearn, along with Dorell Wright, Daequan Cook, Earl Barron, Alexander Johnson, Bobby Jones and Joel Anthony.
