
Wizards Acquire Guard Vernon Hamilton

Bismarck, N.D. (Dec. 13, 2010) ¬" The Dakota Wizards announced today that they have acquired guard Vernon Hamilton (6-1 195, Clemson) via the Available Player Pool. Hamilton will practice with the team today and will be in uniform this weekend as the Wizards play host to the expansion Texas Legends Friday and Saturday.
Hamilton, 26, was drafted in this year's NBA Development League Draft in the sixth round by the Austin Toros where he averaged 13.5 points and 3.8 assists in 4 games for the Toros. The 6-1, 195 lb. guard from Clemson entered the draft after being released by the Detroit Pistons. He played briefly last season in the Ukraine and in 8 games in Switzerland he averaged 19.0 points and 3 assists per game. Hamilton played briefly for Colorado and Fort Wayne during the 2008-09 season. As a junior at Clemson, he was named to the All ACC Defensive team and is Clemson's career and single-season steals leader.
To make room for Hamilton on the roster the Wizards waived guard Brandon Johnson due to injury. The roster currently stands at 10 players.
