Wisconsin's Late Push Falls Short against Greensboro

Wisconsin Herd News Release
OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd almost forced a historic comeback at Menominee Nation Arena on Sunday afternoon, but the Greensboro Swarm ultimately came out on top, claiming the 107-105 road win.
The game looked to belong to the Swarm from the tip, after getting on the board first to claim a lead they would not surrender the rest of the game. The Herd's spotty first quarter shooting (8-26 from the field, 0-7 from three) put them in an 18-point hole, down 36-18, at the end of the opening period. Wisconsin has not shot above 40 percent in the first quarter of a game since Feb. 6.
The Swarm maintained control of the game going in to half, holding a comfortable 65-51 lead over the Herd at the break. Greensboro had four players score in double figures in the first 24 minutes, led by forward Dwayne Bacon's 20. The Herd found a shooting rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring the Swarm 33-29, led by Milwaukee Bucks assignee Christian Wood's first half double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds) and two-way guard Trevon Duval's team-high 12 points.
Wisconsin continued to utilize that momentum, sparking a hot third quarter. The Herd opened the second half with a 17-to-9 run to bring the deficit back to within single digits. Wisconsin guard Nick Johnson hit a three pointer at the buzzer to bring the deficit to just three points (83-80), the Swarm's smallest lead since the 8:47 mark in the first quarter (7-4).
Greensboro struggled to fight off Wisconsin's momentum in the fourth, as the Herd brought the lead to within one point twice in the final ten seconds of the game. Swarm guard Devonte Graham hit a handful of clutch free throws down the stretch, going three-for-four from the line in that time to bring his team's lead to two with 0.6 seconds left before intentionally missing a free throw to seal the win for his team.
The Swarm were led by Dwayne Bacon's game-high 29 points and Devonte Graham's 26. Jaylen Barford was a spark off the bench, adding 16 points, four assists and three steals in the win.
The Herd was led by Trevon Duval's 21 points, five assists and five rebounds. Christian Wood also impressed, notching his 20th double-double of the season (19 points, 20 rebounds).
Wisconsin plays next in a road matchup against Oklahoma City on Feb. 27, while Greensboro plays the following day at home against Westchester.
