Wisconsin Uses Christian Wood's 33 Points to Blow Past Windy City

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd came out on top, 118-109, in a divisional matchup against the Windy City Bulls at Menominee Nation Arena on Wednesday night.

The game saw only one lead change as the Herd took a 24-21 advantage with 4:31 left in the first quarter and did not surrender the lead from that point forward.

Wisconsin controlled the game early, thanks to a solid shooting night as a team and a particularly noteworthy performance from Bucks assignee Christian Wood. He chipped in 21 points and grabbed seven boards in the first half as the Herd entered the break with a 64-46 lead.

The Bulls made things interesting with a strong third quarter that saw them go 13-of-21 from the field. Windy City guard Mychal Mulder led his team's near-comeback heading into the final frame by converting four of his five shots (2-3 from three) to go for 11 points in the third. The Bulls continued their hot streak heading into the fourth, going on an 11-to-4 run to open the quarter bringing the game to within two (91-89).

Wisconsin regained control behind guard Vander Blue's 10-point fourth quarter as they notched their second win in a row.

Wisconsin had seven scorers finish in double digits, including all five starters. Leading the scoring effort for the Herd was Wood, who tallied a game-high 33 points and 12 rebounds. Blue provided a spark off the bench, finishing with a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double in the win.

The Bulls were led by a pair of 20-point outings from forward Brandon Sampson and guard Walter Lemon, Jr. Sampson finished with a team-high 28 points to go with six rebounds and four assists, while Lemon tallied 22 points, six rebounds and six assists.

Wisconsin takes the court again on Friday as they face off against the Canton Charge. The Bulls make their way to Canada to take on Raptors 905 on Saturday afternoon.
